What is Spanish El Niño?

El Niño  (which means ‘the Little One’) is Spain’s national ‘New Year’ lottery – held annually on 6th January. You would think that after the bustle of the holiday season, the Spanish would be ready to rest – but oh no!  In all, more than 2 million prizes are being given away, with the first prize pool alone being worth €120 Million. A total of €840 Million is up for grabs! Odds are better than 1 in 3 to win and you’ve got the chance to win up to 8 times on just one ticket. Why is this lottery ticket different?

These special once-a-year draws are technically ‘lotteries’ (as opposed to ‘lottos’) because only a finite number of tickets are printed. And when they are gone, they’re gone! Each ticket carries a 5-digit number and is split up into ten sections – known as ‘decimas’. These decimas make it even easier to get a piece of the action. You can get yourself one decima, or as many full tickets as you like, it’s up to you.

Sign up for email alerts and we’ll let you know well in advance. Only a certain amount of tickets are ever made available and we work hard to make sure you get your chance as early as possible.

What if I want to play other games too?

With ELG, you can select any game you want, as long as you are not a resident of that country. (In other words, a resident of Spain cannot play the Spanish El Niño through ELG.) You can choose the games that suit your fancy and play as many as you wish!

How do I play with a group?

How do I know if I’ve won?

There’s nothing better than knowing you’ve won! If you’ve won €1000 or more in any draw, we’ll telephone you as soon as possible to share the happy news! At the end of your play period, we always send you a Final Statement showing your total prize money won. You also receive a complete list of winning numbers so you can see the draw results for yourself.

How do I get my winnings?

Winnings are included with your Final Statement (sent automatically to you when your current play period ends) in the form of a cheque, bank draft, money order or applicable financial instrument for your country. (Total wins of less than £10 for British Lotto, or €10 for all other games, will be deposited directly to your ELG account and are available upon request at any time.) Of course, we are always happy to make any special arrangements you may require for receiving your prize money. For your convenience, we can also convert winnings to most major national currencies at the prevailing exchange rate. Don’t forget, with ELG you are guaranteed to receive the full value of all the prizes you win, with no taxes deducted and no additional fees of any kind.
